Filmhouse Birthday

We're turning one! Join us for a celebration of our first year, with classic cinema, the best films of 2025 and 2026, and picks from our staff and members throughout June and July. Obviously, we can't help but bring back our opening film Cinema Paradiso for screenings on our birthday itself, but you should also keep your eyes peeled for another very special event on the day - Saturday 27 June, save the date...

Speaking of special events, we screened a beautiful 70mm print of Stanley Kubrick's sci-fi epic 2001: A Space Odyssey for our team, and loved it so much we're bringing it back to share with you all at the start of the month! In July, one of our favourites from Halloween in Nicolas Roeg’s iconic film Don’t Look Now is screened, followed by novelist Ian Rankin in conversation with writer Justin John Doherty to discuss John’s new book on the legacy of the film, Don’t Look Now and Then.

Since we got our cinema back, we thought we'd enlist the help of our Members to prove that we're not afraid to use it - the WGACAWNATUI programme for June will be made up of films that were simply made to be shown in Screen One, chosen by our Members in an exclusive poll! Expect monumental awards favourites, blockbuster classics, and auteur masterworks.

Of course, our team are also getting in on the action, with four of our favourite films shown at Filmhouse from across the last year returning in our Team Birthday Picks. Two contemplative and heartrending modern masterpieces alongside two of the most stressful films released in the UK in 2026 - our team are nothing if not diverse in their tastes!

Finally, we take a look back at the best-performing and busiest films in our cinema from the last year in our Top Filmhouse Films. Reminisce on one of the most hyped awards seasons in recent memory, or take in one of the most beautiful restorations that just wouldn't quit...

All FH Birthday screenings (with the exception of 2001: A Space Odyssey (70mm) and Don't Look Now + discussion) will be priced at £6 for Filmhouse Members, with Perfect Pairs discounts available on full price tickets for non-members when booking two or more films in the same transaction.

All screenings, including regularly programmed films, on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June will be priced at £6 for Filmhouse Members and £8 for non-members.

Filmhouse Members had access to an exclusive presale for FH Birthday screenings from Monday 18 May to Friday 22 May. Head to our Memberships page to purchase a membership and receive access to future exclusive presale periods and extra discounts.
