French Film Festival UK 2025

The 2025 French Film Festival UK celebrates the vibrant diversity of francophone cinema with a rich programme spanning contemporary films, classic retrospectives, and special tributes. Highlights include François Ozon’s striking adaptation of The Stranger, and Richard Linklater’s nostalgic homage to Godard’s Breathless. We’re celebrating 130 years since the birth of Marseille-born writer and filmmaker Marcel Pagnol, with screenings of his Provence masterpieces: Jean de Florette and Manon of the Spring.

Audiences can enjoy performances from stars such as Jodie Foster, Isabelle Huppert, and Daniel Auteuil, alongside a selection of award-winning dramas, documentaries, and animated films. This year also marks Gaumont Studios’ centenary, spotlighting classics and new films including How to Make a Killing, a darkly comic tale of a fateful accident and its cover-up.

The Filmhouse are hosting a series of screenings as part of the festival’s UK-wide programme, bringing the best of French-language cinema to Edinburgh. Visit frenchfilmfestival.org.uk for full listings and ticket information.
