The 2026 French Film Festival UK at Filmhouse celebrates the diversity and vitality of French-language cinema, with a programme spanning restored classics, contemporary dramas, documentaries, thrillers, comedies and imaginative new takes on familiar stories.
Highlights include Jean Gabin and Alain Delon in the restored classic Any Number Can Win (Mélodie en sous-sol), and The Money Maker (L’Affaire Bojarski), based on the extraordinary true story of a notorious counterfeiter and presented with an introduction and Q&A. Audiences can also enjoy Maigret and the Dead Lover, featuring the celebrated detective, alongside Les Misérables, Phantom of the Opera and the visually distinctive Violette.
The programme also explores the history and possibilities of cinema itself, from Lumière, Le Cinéma to the atmospheric documentaries Whispers in the Woods and Rays and Shadows. Further highlights include L’Affaire Marie-Claire (Women on Trial), starring Charlotte Gainsbourg as a pioneering lawyer, as well as new dramas and distinctive stories including Garance (Another Day), Blaise, A Woman’s Life, Words of Love and The Birthday Party.
