It's spooky season! Come on in to our Haunted Filmhouse this October for a collection of well-loved horror classics.

This year we celebrate the centenary of horror legend Roger Corman. Enjoy some of his directorial efforts with the return of The Masque of the Red Death and the seminal The Fall of the House of Usher, and very special UK-first screenings (!) of Film Masters' 4K restoration of A Bucket of Blood, his first foray into the comedy genre. Targets, one of his executive produced thrillers, follows as the final round in this particular chamber.

Targets also forms one half of a Boris Karloff double bill, in which he plays an iconic horror star (meta!) who agrees to do one last public outing at the request of a director, played by Peter Bogdanovich (in his own directorial debut - very meta!). Of course, we pair this with the film that made him that horror icon - 1931's Frankenstein.

It wouldn't be Halloween without a bit of Hitchcock, would it? Join us for a rather tense weekend as we pull back the (shower) curtain with the exemplary Psycho, and follow it up with one of the finest of his London oeuvre, Frenzy.

In the final grouping of our chilling collection, new documentary Children of the Wicker Man interrogates the life, legacy, and lasting impact of Robin Hardy's work on his Scottish folk-horror masterpiece, as told by his family. With that being said, we would never pass up a chance to play The Wicker Man, so we've two Wicker Man double bills coming down from the hills for you!

There's a few special engagements for the season - saved from the censors at last, Ken Russell's The Devils finally hits our screens in its ultimate form, both in 4K and from a 35mm print created from the new restoration. Also from 35mm, we have a rare screening of Anguish - our story begins with a seemingly mild-mannered ophthalmologist and his overbearing mother who is revealed to be hypnotising him to murder people to collect their eyes. Apart from this, don't read anything about this film! Just know that this is the film to watch in a cinema and you will be squirming in your seat.

Plenty other horror hits are sprinkled in through October, including the last of our Harry Dean Stanton centenary celebration in Alien, an interactive screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show in honour of Tim Curry, and no Filmhouse Halloween would be complete without The Shining. All work and no play makes (our projectionist) Jack a dull boy!
