Social-realist sci-fi from an apartment block with five thousand inhabitants in the centre of São Paulo. A Brazilian microcosm about money, power and a fragile democracy.
Carine Wallauer is a director, cinematographer and visual artist based in Brazil. Her artistic production moves between technique and experimentation with images, and is present on digital platforms and in internationally respected print publications. She has participated in group exhibitions in galleries in Italy, Canada, Turkey, and the USA, as well as solo exhibitions in Brazil.
In addition to her work as a cinematographer on projects by fellow filmmakers, she wrote, directed, and photographed <i>Copan</i>, her debut feature film. The film was awarded Best Feature at the 30th edition of It’s All True–International Documentary Film Festival and was officially selected for the competitive sections of renowned festivals such as CPH:DOX 2025 Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival and FICG Guadalajara International Film Festival.
This screening is part of <a href="https://www.filmhouse.org.uk/doc-screen">Doc Screen</a>, an initiative run by Scottish Documentary Institute (SDI) in partnership with Filmhouse.
