Dreams and Apparitions: Shorts (Jali Film Weekender)
This shorts programme invites us into liminal spaces and shifting memories.
From Kenya to Haiti, and Rwanda to the UK, these six films explore the complexities of grief and the weight of conflict, while also confronting the dislocations of exile and displacement in the African and diasporic experience. Presented in narrative, documentary, animation and experimental form, they remind us of the ways in which memory lingers, resurfaces, and shapes how we see ourselves and one another.
Within these stories, the borders between the past and present, the real and imagined, the seen and unseen, are never fixed. They reflect on how histories of struggle and survival shape belonging, and how dreams and apparitions can guide us towards alternate futures.
