Home Is Somewhere Else (IberoDocs)

This screening will have a 10-minute extended introduction. UK Premiere What’s it like to grow up with the constant threat of deportation hanging over you and your family? In this powerful animated documentary, three young immigrants in the United States tell their personal stories. Jasmine lives in fear of her undocumented parents being deported, embracing activism to protect families like her own. Evelyn (born in the US) and sister Elizabeth (an undocumented immigrant) live apart due to their different immigration statuses. We also hear from José (Lalo) about his own deportation experience and finding a way back. Woven together by spoken word poet José Eduardo Aguilar, this authentic, multi-award winning documentary explores fear, identity and resilience through poetry and lived experience. Home Is Somewhere Else shares the rich complexity of the emotional experiences of immigrant children, and their families, allowing us to better understand and empathize with them.AnimationPT1H28MPG2025-09-10
