However, Del Ruth refused, citing the unrelenting morbidity and the ongoing Great Depressionn outside the local cinema's walls as reasons why the film would bomb at the box office. Luckily for us, Mervyn LeRoy took on the reins of the adaptation of this true story - based on Robert Elliott Burns' memoir <i>I am a Fugitive from a Georgia Chain Gang!</i> - so now we have a brilliant film to celebrate Bleak Week with from 35mm film.</div>DramaPT1H32MN/C 182026-06-21
