Berlin piano student Laura, while on a weekend holiday to the countryside, survives a car accident against all odds. Somehow physically unhurt yet traumatised, a local woman who saw the crash takes her in and cares for Laura with all the love and care of a mother. Once her husband and adult son let down their guard, all four begin to settle into a somewhat familial routine - however, it's not long before they have to confront their past, and Laura must then come to terms with her own life.
Miroirs No. 3, named for the third movement of Maurice Ravel's piano suite, received its world premiere in the Directors' Fortnight at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. The haunting yet comforting psychological drama sees director Christian Petzold and leading actress Paula Beer reunite for the fourth film in a row, including his previous 2023 film Afire, which featured in our reopening week in June 2025 and also stars the returning Matthias Brandt and Enno Trebs.DramaPT1H26MTBC2026-04-17
