<b>This screening will have a short 5-minute introduction and a post-screening Q&A with Filmmaker Fernanda Faya, and features BSL interpretation. In collaboration with Scottish Queer International Film Festival</b> <i>Scottish Premiere</i> Neirud was always present at family gatherings when filmmaker Fernanda Roth Faya was growing up. But who was this woman, close to Faya’s grandmother, who died shrouded in mystery with no trace of her past left behind? Confronting family secrets, Faya sets out to piece together the mysterious life of her enigmatic "aunt". In the process of doing so, she discovers Neirud’s colourful, unexpected and controversial life as a pioneering wrestler in an all-female touring circus troupe throughout the 60s and 80s. Mixing modern footage with archival home movies and family photos, <i>Neirud</i> is a fascinating story touching on race, identity and queer life through changing Brazilian society.DocumentaryPT1H13MU2025-09-13
