While happily passing his days with his wife Miri (Son Yejin), their two children and two dogs, Man-su is suddenly informed by his company that he has been fired. “We’re sorry. We have no other choice.” Leading man Lee Byung-hun (recently of viral sensations KPop Demon Hunters and Squid Game) made his breakthrough in Park Chan-wook's Joint Security Area, now reuniting with the director in this thrilling interrogation of the job market and capitalist society in 2025. No Other Choice has raked in awards on the festival circuit including the International People's Choice Award at Toronto International Film Festival, and was the South Korean entry for Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards.

--

The title of this movie is incredibly ironic. Throughout the movie, Man-Su has plenty of choices but he can’t see that. He lies to himself to justify sacrificing his own humanity (as well as other people) to upkeep his families’ lifestyle and position in the status quo. And yet, we actively root for him throughout! Our main character is a bit of a “daft guy decides to do crime” trope but we love it. Park Chan-wook strikes that balance of comedy, drama and darkness whilst being visually stunning, socially relevant, hilarious and totally disturbing (he does teeth mutilation like no other).

Written by Stacey Brown, Front of House Manager

CrimePT2H19M152026-01-23
