Sorcerer (4K Restoration)
Based on the novel <i>Le Salaire de la peur</i> which spawned Henri-Georges Clouzot's famous French film <i>The Wages of Fear</i>, William Friedkin's <i>Sorcerer</i> follows four men from different corners of the world who come together in the same remote South American town in an effort to hide from their respective past. The men agree to take on the dangerous job of couriering several cases of unstable dynamite (so old that it's sweating out nitroglycerin, the active ingredient) over and through treacherous jungle terrain. William Friedkin had just had a box office smash with <i>The Exorcist</i> when beginning to make this film. However, <i>Sorcerer</i> became something of a critical and financial fiasco upon release, likely due to its proximity to the release of <i>Star Wars</i> which gripped the world when it hit screens. However, there has been a reappraisal of the film in recent years with the New Hollywood directing legend even saying in 2017 that it is the only one of his films he can still watch - and now there's no better time to join him as it screens in a beautiful 4K restoration.ThrillerPT2H2M152026-02-06Roy Scheider
