Sound Of Falling

Four girls, Alma (1910s), Erika (1940s), Angelika (1980s), and Lenka (2020s) each spend their youth on the same farm in northern Germany. As the home evolves over a century, echoes of the past linger in its walls. Though separated by time, their lives begin to mirror each other, revealing shared secrets that have been kept hidden. The first film directed by a German female filmmaker to compete in the main competition of the Cannes Film Festival since 2016, Mascha Schilinski's Sound of Falling took home the Jury Prize following its world premiere at the 2025 edition and was shortlisted for Best International Feature at the Academy Awards. With a lengthy casting process involving over 1,400 girls auditioning and a year's worth of deliberation, each time period in the film is represented by both experienced actors and newcomers.DramaPT2H28M182026-03-20
