The Freshman

Screening as part of FILMh100SE. Harold Lamb is buzzing to go to college. He's been practicing his college yells, he's learnt a special greeting he picked up from his favourite movie star, and he's been working hard to cobble together spending money. He even joins the football team when he arrives at Tate University - however, all these efforts lead to his targeting in practical jokes and college hazing. He has one true friend, Peggy, and with her help Harold keeps on trying absolutely anything to become popular. The Freshman is one of the most loved and long-lasting college comedies of all time, being a smash hit from its release 100 years ago. The film was selected for preservation in the US National Film Registry by the Library of Congress in 1990, which was only the second year of voting for the honour - the film being one of the first 50 to be preserved in the Registry.ComedyPT1H16MTBC2025-12-21
