The Great Arch (L’Inconnu de la Grande Arche)

French President François Mitterrand decides to launch an international architectural competition for the flagship project of his mandate: the Great Arch of La Défense, aligned with the Louvre and the Arc de Triomphe. Against all odds, Otto von Spreckelsen, a Danish architect, wins the 1982 competition. Overnight, this 53-year-old man, unknown in France, arrives in Paris where he is propelled to the helm of this pharaonic project. While the architect intends to build the Great Arch exactly as he envisioned, his ideas quickly clash with realistic constraints and the vicissitudes of politics.<div><br></div><div><i>The Great Arch</i>&nbsp;premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, before heading to Filmhouse in November for that year's French Film Festival UK. The actor cast as von Spreckelsen, Claes Bang, landed the role despite not speaking French - just like the character he represents. Due to this language barrier, Bang painstakingly rehearsed Stéphane Demoustier's Lumière Award-winning screenplay to make sure he would be capable of performing it.</div><div></div>DramaPT1H44MN/C 182026-07-03
