Sookee is a pickpocket who is enlisted by a Japanese count to help him seduce a heiress in order to swindle her out of her fortune. Also Japanese, the target of the plan, Hideko, lives in solitude, only with a spacious countryside estate and her imposing Uncle Kouzuki for company.
