Frederick Wiseman niftily cuts between activities on the shop floor such as stock presentation and fitting room sessions to marketing and sales meetings on the corporate side of things, laying out how a department store like this works in sync like a well-oiled machine to sell products to their customers on every level. In <i>The Store</i>, amongst all the designer clothes, perfumes, shoes, white goods and electronics, Wiseman finds events to be studied among the usually perceived banality of Christmas shopping.
