Zodiac Killer Project w/ Q&A

This screening will be followed by a Q&A with director Charlie Shackleton hosted by Paul Ridd (Director of Edinburgh International Film Festival). Charlie Shackleton tried to make a true crime documentary. He failed. This is the story of what might have been. Hilariously self-aware and wholly original, Zodiac Killer Project sees Shackleton deconstruct the massive surge in popularity of the true crime genre, as he tells the story of his abandoned film on the infamous serial killer and how he saw it playing out. The filmmaker's voice hangs over deserted Bay Area vistas, stylised re-enactments and clips of true crime favourites from recent years, forming a fable of creative frustration and an irreverent, laugh-out-loud send-up of an over-subscribed genre. Charlie Shackleton has previous for creating subversive film. In 2016, the filmmaker crowdfunded the infamous protest film Paint Drying - a ten-hour long static-shot film of white paint drying on a wall, created in order to submit to the British Board of Film Classification in protest of their mandatory requirement for classification of all films released in the UK. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the BBFC classified Paint Drying with a U rating - containing no material likely to offend or harm.DocumentaryPT1H32M152025-12-05
