Catalan Film Festival 2026

The Catalan Film Festival returns for its 11th edition in 2026, and we are so pleased to be back at Filmhouse once again to bring you the best new films from Catalonia. Our opening title, Forastera, is a sun-kissed meditation on grief and the different ways it can manifest. Meanwhile, Albert Serra’s documentary study of bullfighting, Afternoons of Solitude, won the Golden Shell at the prestigious San Sebastian International Film Festival and was recently voted the best film of 2025 by Cahiers du Cinéma. The Imminent Age is a tender look at the relationship between a boy and his grandmother made by a young collective of filmmakers from Barcelona. Finally, we close proceedings in Edinburgh with Jaume Claret Muxart’s queer coming of age tale, Strange River, followed by an in-person Q and A with the director.

This festival is run by CinemaAttic, who have been celebrating Iberian and Latin American cinema in Scotland since 2008. You can find full details of the festival at catalanfilmfestival.co.uk
