SI-FAN Film Festival 2026

"SI-FAN is a festival which spans the quirky, the surreal, the fantastic and fantastical. A wonderful spectrum of cinematic gems pushing the boundaries of genre."

- BAFTA-winning director Morag McKinnon

SI-FAN (Scottish International Fantastic Arts Network) are delighted and honoured to bring their 2026 Festival to Filmhouse. SI-FAN carefully selects the most exciting features and short films within the fantastical genre sphere, offering the very best in escapist cinema and discovering the next wave of exciting, unique voices in film.

We are also proud champions of supporting emerging Scottish filmmaking talent working within the fantastical genre realm, and are delighted to have selected and be screening several films made by Scottish and Scottish-based filmmakers.

2026 will be the third full festival edition, having been established in 2023. We are delighted to bring to Scottish audiences over 60 short films across horror, fantasy, Sci-Fi, action, thriller and surrealism, between live action and animation, as well as two Scottish premieres in A Useful Ghost and Dog of God.

SI-FAN is the sister festival of the BAFTA and BIFA recognised short comedy film festival Short Com, world-renowned for it’s curation and discovering emerging film talent.
