Introduction
1. Filmhouse (Edinburgh) Ltd. (“Filmhouse”) aims to provide an enjoyable and safe environment for all patrons. Admission to any Filmhouse screening is subject to these Terms & Conditions. By purchasing or using a ticket, patrons agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.
2. These Terms & Conditions apply to all ticket holders, including any members, unless otherwise stated.
Behaviour & Conduct
1. Filmhouse reserves the right to refuse admission or require patrons to leave without refund if their behaviour is disruptive, antisocial, abusive, threatening, or otherwise negatively impacts staff or other patrons.
2. Disruptive behaviour includes, but is not limited to, physical or verbal abuse, loud talking during screenings, use of mobile phones or devices that emit light or sound during a performance, or any behaviour deemed inappropriate by the Cinema Duty Manager.
3. Smoking (including e-cigarettes and other electronic smoking devices) is not permitted anywhere on Filmhouse premises.
4. Patrons found intoxicated or under the influence of illegal substances may be refused entry or required to leave without a refund.
Alcohol & Food Policy
1. Alcohol purchased outside Filmhouse premises may not be brought into the cinema.
2. Alcohol purchased at Filmhouse may only be consumed in licensed areas, in compliance with licensing laws.
3. Hot food purchased off-site may not be consumed on the premises. Only food purchased at Filmhouse may be consumed.
4. Licensing laws will be strictly enforced. Staff may request proof of age when purchasing alcohol.
5. Patrons found in possession of alcohol not purchased at Filmhouse or found to be intoxicated may be asked to leave without refund.
Mobile Devices & Recording Equipment
1. All mobile phones and devices that emit light or sound must be switched off in the auditorium during screenings.
2. The use of recording or copying equipment (including but not limited to mobile phones, cameras and camcorders) is strictly prohibited during screenings.
3. Any such device found in use may be confiscated for inspection and the patron may be reported to the authorities under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.
4. Attempting to record or copy any film, soundtrack, or other copyright-protected material may result in prosecution, a fine, and imprisonment.
Classification & Age Restrictions
1. Filmhouse adheres to the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) ratings and local licensing laws.
2. Patrons must be of the minimum age required by the BBFC classification to attend a given screening.
3. Proof of age may be requested.
4. Patrons under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Patrons under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult after 7.00pm.
5. Patrons attempting to gain entry to an age-restricted film without appropriate ID might be refused entry without refund.
6. Tickets & Admissions
1. Only patrons in possession of a valid ticket will be admitted to the auditorium. Tickets must be retained and produced upon request for re-entry.
2. Lost, stolen, or damaged tickets cannot be replaced.
3. Tickets are non-refundable except in cases where a screening is cancelled. Exchanges may be offered at the discretion of Filmhouse management.
4. Tickets cannot be resold or used for commercial or promotional purposes without the express consent of Filmhouse.
5. Tickets purchased at a discount are valid only with proof of eligibility (e.g., student ID). Discount eligibility must be established at the time of purchase and cannot be applied retroactively.
6. Latecomers may be admitted at the Duty Manager’s discretion but may be refused entry once the main feature has begun.
7. Price and availability of tickets are subject to change without notice.
