David Mackenzie

Scottish film director David Mackenzie – probably best known for the superior Jeff Bridges ‘contemporary western’ Hell or High Water – has, over the last 25 years, been quietly building an impressive and diverse body of work, going all the way back to The Last Great Wilderness and Young Adam in 2002 and 2003 respectively.

Working mostly out of Sigma Films, the Glasgow-based production company he co-founded, these two most recent of his films have him returning to the thriller genre with the slow-burn, paranoia/tech/surveillance thriller Relay, starring the marvellous Riz Ahmed, and Fuze, a hyper-kinetic, high-stakes heist thriller revolving around the discovery of an unexploded WWII bomb.
